01 / Why now

The world is moving. Fast.

Three curves are bending at the same time. Money is going into AI at a rate no industry has seen; humanoid robots have left the lab and clocked their first real factory shifts; games are the largest entertainment business on the planet and the place where AI meets people first. Edition 04 is built where the three meet.

AI

The chatbot year is over. Companies are buying agents that plan, act and report back, and the spend behind them is unprecedented.

  • $2.67T spent on AI worldwide in 2026, up 49.5% in one year; more than half of it on infrastructure Gartner, Sep 2026
  • $206B AI agent software market in 2026, from $86B in 2025, forecast to reach $376B in 2027 Gartner, May 2026
  • 44% of companies say AI is now scaling across the enterprise; 23% already run an agent in at least one function McKinsey, State of AI 2026

Robots

Five million robots already work in factories. The new chapter is humanoids: priced like a car, shipping in the thousands and on the line at carmakers.

  • 5M industrial robots operating in factories worldwide in 2025, a record, with 603,000 installed in a single year IFR, Sep 2026
  • 30,000+ BMW X3s built with a Figure humanoid on the Spartanburg line; its successor Figure 03 started there in 2026 BMW Group, 2026
  • 5,500+ humanoids Unitree delivered to customers in 2025, with 10,000 to 20,000 targeted for 2026; Goldman Sachs sees 1.4 million a year by 2035 Caixin · Goldman Sachs

Games

Bigger than film and music combined, and the first mass market where generative AI, agents and virtual worlds are tested on real people every day.

  • $213.9B global games revenue in 2026, up 6.1% on the year; mobile alone is $121B Newzoo, 2026
  • 3.7B players worldwide in 2026, almost half of humanity, 1.65 billion of them paying Newzoo, 2026
  • 6.3% of Malta’s economy is gaming: €1.42 billion of value added in 2025 from one of the largest regulated gaming industries in the world Malta Gaming Authority, 2025
02 / Three themes

One stage, three fronts

Edition 04 puts artificial intelligence, games and robotics side by side: the models, the play and the machines, and the people building all three. The full programme arrives with the speaker reveal.

01

AI

Generative models, agents and the companies putting them to work: from the first pilot to software that acts on its own.

  • Agents at work
  • From pilot to production
  • Ethics, policy & safety
02

Games

Where AI meets play: game studios, esports, iGaming and virtual worlds, on the island that hosts one of Europe’s largest gaming industries.

  • AI in game development
  • Esports & live entertainment
  • iGaming & regulation
03

Robots

Humanoids, drones and industrial arms, demonstrated on stage and on the demo floor instead of described in slides.

03 / Why Malta

An island built for games, code and a long night

  • Europe’s gaming island

Home to one of the largest iGaming and game-tech clusters in Europe, with a dedicated gaming regulator and a digital innovation authority.

  • English-speaking, EU member

English is an official language and Malta has been in the EU since 2004: no friction for European guests, easy for everyone else.

  • Three hours from most of Europe

Direct flights from the major European hubs into Malta International Airport, and the whole island is a 30-minute drive.

  • Built for after hours

Around 300 sunny days a year, a UNESCO-listed capital and a waterfront made for side events and the official afterparty.

Games on [the island]

Malta has run one of the largest regulated gaming industries in the world for two decades: 302 licensed companies, 6.3% of the economy and a regulator the rest of Europe benchmarks against. The next bet is video games and esports.

A national vision targets growing game development from 0.1% to 1% of GDP within ten years, with up to 3,000 new jobs, grants of up to €200,000 per game, R&D tax credits and start-up financing. ESL Pro League has a multi-year home on the island, more than 20 Maltese studios showed at gamescom 2026, and Sliema-based 4A Games is building its flagship Metro 2039 for 2027. The same authority that regulates AI under the EU AI Act runs a 2026–2030 plan to make Malta an AI testbed.
